Bourne Heritage Villa is a 150 year old British bungalow which sits in the heart of Kodaikanal, TN. The villa gets its name from the estate named Bourne End which included much of the area surrounding the present day site. The project brief was to restore the old structure into a Wabi-Sabi style themed resort which houses 5 rooms and newly built cottages around the existing villa. The design language explores rough textures in fabrics, weathered wood, smooth edges and detailing which in turn created a balance between old and the new built forms in a monochromatic and subtle color palette.
